THE BEGINNING
Stemming from his love of what Simon Jordan considers to be ‘the’ ultimate classic – Ferrari and his idol – Signor. Enzo Ferraris, his passion for ‘ALL THINGS ITALIAN’ was with out a doubt in his blood from an early age.
Starting out as a young man with an insatiable enthusiasm for cars and racing, he devoted himself to learning as much as he could with very limited resources. Little did he know that washing cars and getting involved with vehicle restoration would lead on to bigger and better things… Ultimately to become Owner, Founder and Designer at Caracalla-Bath Limited.
Simon was employed in November 1997 by Robin Mortimer of MHT Ferrari making his dreams a reality. As a natural consequence Simon entered the world of Ferrari and despite having been made to wait a year, which at the time felt like a life time, there was no holding him back. He joined the team at MHT and began selling Ferrari after Ferrari, old and new alike. He was starting to live the dream.
Over the coming years, Simon was fortunate to work with some other great names in the world of Ferrari, such as Dick Lovett and Bob Houghton.
With Simons natural born entrepreneurial skills he was becoming more and more determined to fulfil his desire to move away and set up on his own.
Fine foods, world class wines, Tuscan leather, breath taking scenery, racing circuits and of course Ferrari’s. We could only be talking about one place. That place, is Italy and for Simon Jordan, that place is heaven.
In 2005, during a trip to the Mugello Racing Circuit in Tuscany, Italy for the Ferrari Mondiali Meeting, Simon with his eye for meticulous detail and fine craftsmanship noticed another member of the group being dressed by a beautiful leather bag. Immediately, Simon knew that he had to follow his instincts and before returning home, he had not only visited the shop where the bag had been purchased, but also bought similar pieces and forever being the entrepreneur, he had located and made contact with the factory and leather master who had hand crafted these beautiful products of impeccable quality. When asked for details on the location of the factory and leather master, Mr. Jordan’s reply was one of few words…… he said nothing!
Ferrari, provided the perfect foundation by generating the name ‘Caracalla’. Simon knew that Ferrari had won their first ever race on May 25th 1947, on a Roman circuit around the historic Bath’s of Emperor Caracalla. Ironically, Simon was living in Bath, UK at this time and decided to combine Caracalla with Bath and a new Empire was born. Caracalla-Bath Limited.
As a man who fully understands the motoring world and who knows first hand, the lengths that motoring enthusiasts will go to in order to obtain a piece of memorabilia, relating specifically to their favourite driver, prestigious marques or racing circuit, Simon developed a unique and exquisite collection of Commemorative Motorsport Holdalls.
Hand Made with The Finest Italian Leather, vegetable tanned through and through to the exact colour required for the individual holdall, the collection breathed new life into a classic.
Here is a taster of some of the masterpieces that Simon Jordan of Caracalla-Bath Limited has designed.
* Cortese 56 – a red holdall bearing the number 56 as a reminder to all when Franco Cortese in his number 56 car gave Ferrari their first ever win.
* Bentley Old No. 1 – a green holdall bearing the number 1 relating to Bentley’s famous Le Mans victory in 1929. The font used fro the number one matches exactly that of the car used – no detail was missed.
* Ferrari Moss No. 7 – a blue holdall with a white stripe bearing the number 7 designed to commemorate the achievements of a British Racing Icon, Sir Stirling Moss, who not only endorsed this product but even allowed our product to be embossed with his signature.
