Why the number 18?
The first Daimler-Benz formula racing car built after the war, Mercedez-Benz W 196 R bearing the No.18. In this car, Juan Manuel Fangio won the 1954 and 1955 world championship titles. After their pre-war success, no-one doubted that Daimler-Benz would recommence formula racing. But the time for this did not come until the new formula racing regulations were introduced in 1954. The very first entry of the new W 196 R in the French GP at Reims ended with a great success: Fangio and Kling could score a twin victory.
This holdall is designed to reflect and commemorate the automobile driven by Juan Manuel Fangio. Seen here in a light Silver leather with white roundel and red numbering. The holdall has a full end to end zip and is lined with an imitation pigs skin, much more durable than a cotton interior. It also has metal studded feet to protect the leather when stored.
The holdall will prove to be an ideal holdall a racing and Mercedes enthusiast. It is multi versatile and fits easily in the over head lockers on all aircraft.
Dimensions: W57cm H32cm D28cm (Lighting conditions will change the colour of the leather)
